The Good Stubborn

The Good Stubborn

According to people, there are some characteristics that an entrepreneur must have. Let me add on to the list — #stubborness, in a good way.

Look around you. There are those we label as super entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and wannabe entrepreneurs. Super entrepreneurs always seem invincible. They seem to make everything look easy and having the Midas touch. To some they even seem a Hybrid of Avengers.

But ask any entrepreneurs, whatever category they may be. I bet each one of them will tell you that somewhere and some time in their journey, they have experienced pain, fear, rejection, doubts, fatigue, etc. You see, sometimes people forget that entrepreneurs are only human. The success and glory people see are the fruits. Back track on their journey and soon you will discover that they are no different from everyone else.

The negatives we cannot avoid but it should not be allowed to stumble us. The difference is the successful ones are those who see the negatives as a passing phase and not a destination. It is an opportunity to learn and grow.

So guys and gals, remember that you are only human. Don’t despair in times of difficulty. People before you have experienced and prevailed. Press on!

Cannot Tell Me Cannot

Cannot Tell Me Cannot

Hey, what is the meaning of this word #Cannot? Does not register in our vocabulary. Is it in your vocab?

Well, it is only a word but unfortunately most of us tend to refer to it in the negative, I.e. We cannot do this, we cannot do that, etc.

So how often has people told you that you cannot do ……. bla bla bla? Do you believe them? Who are they to tell us Cannot?

Personally, it is important to keep the word CANNOT in our vocab but perhaps it’s wise to tune down the volume. Let it be so soft that the word CANNOT won’t even be a whisper in your ears. Don’t let it hinder you from achieving your visions and dreams. Press on. God after all told us, “With Him all things are possible”. Do you believe?

Progression Not Instant

Progression Not Instant

The title tells it all. We are living in times of little patience. Everything has to happen in the blink of the eye — success, finances, fame, etc. While it is true that everything around us is happening faster and faster due to globalisation and a very competitive world, we cannot have #instant in everything.

Common sense tells us that a house cannot be built in a day, that is if you want a house with a solid foundation else it may not last the tests of strong winds and lashing rain, etc.

Similarly in life, including businesses, we have to adopt the stance of progression. Start from building a strong foundation then proceed from there, one step and a time. There are simply no short cuts. Of course there is always the adage easy come easy go.

Unless you are looking to eat instant noodles, riches and business are not built in day. Rome was not built in a day…..remember?

To all our NOW friends, NOW is good but not applicable to everything thing. It is just not possible.

Malaysia in Me

Recently there seems to be more people commenting that I speak very good Bahasa. Strangely in all the previous years nobody seems to care. Is this because of recent developments that has kinda stirred our awareness of our identity — who’s who and what’s what?

Well, call me whatever name you want, I am an authentic Anak Malaysia. I’ve always been able to communicate in Bahasa, not just speak but speak in the proper manner. For me, it’s strictly no Bahasa pasar.

Nonetheless, to receive comments that I speak Bahasa well is an opportunity for me to convey the message to all that people may judge and call names, but that does not change the fact that you and me are Malaysians. Even if some folks do speak Bahasa pasar, the fact that they speak is testament that they are Malaysians and are comfortable enough to do so without worry of being criticised. We Malaysians understand and accept each other just as we are.

The spirit of 1Malaysia is well and alive…..not because some people are shouting about it but because we the Rakyat has been living it all our lives. To those who shout about it but don’t love it, perhaps it’s time to learn from the Rakyat.

Long live Malaysia!

Speck of Dust

Speck of Dust

Am not touching on the topic of pollution. Rather the impact of a speck of dust on a positive and negative person.

What would you do if there is a speck of dust in your eyes? Would you freak out? Would you mind be filled with thoughts that you are going to be blind, that the world is coming to an end, that no relationships or people are trustworthy, etc? Would you make that speck of dust to be higher than Mount Everest and deeper than the deeper sea?

Sadly, the world has it’s fair share of people who over-glorify a speck of dust. Their world is often turned upside down by it and often the negative impact affects the people around these individuals too.

Here’s my thoughts….it is time to wake up! A speck of dust is but a speck of dust. It is not a truckload or sea deep or mountain high amount of dust. It is in fact so small that you could easily blow it away in a jiffy. Your life need not be an emotional roller coaster ride because of it.

If you go around looking for a speck of dust, you will find it or over-glorify a speck of dust, your life will be turned chaotic….for yourself and loved ones.

Let your life not be derailed by a speck of dust. Control your life. Control your mind and emotions. Look for the positive, the good and beautiful.

Stepping Stone – Floor Mat or Elevator?

This morning as I was driving, it crossed my mind that often in our life, we have intentionally or sub-consciously being made someone’s stepping stone or made someone our stepping stone.

Often, being a stepping stone is associated to the negative. Kinda a floor mat. Hi & Bye. We serve our purpose for a brief moment only. When that person finds someone or something better, it is aside with old and in with the new. Let’s not shoot those people for we may be guilty of doing so ourselves.

So what is the point of writing this today?

Well, we all have a purpose to serve or live out in this life. Whatever we do, we do it unto the Lord. If someone made us a stepping stone, it is only because we have something important that the other person needs. Ain’t it better than not being needed at all? At least we have being a blessing, amidst moments only. If we are the “culprits”, then it is within our control to stop! We need to incorporate a culture of “gratefulness” into our character. Forget not those who helped us along the way. This is what society is lacking these days.

If we have being made a stepping stone, here’s a positive perspective…

  1. Be thankful you have blessed someone
  2. If that person made you feel as if you are only a tool, then let us not do the same unto others
  3. Learn from the lesson as a stepping stone

If you have made others your stepping stone, here’s what you may need to do…

  1. Stop! Be grateful to all who has helped and blessed you in your journey
  2. Show appreciation to them

Now, being a stepping stone does not sound that bad right? It’s a process of life. It’s unavoidable. Make the most of it. Stay positive.

RESTLESS Me

Restless is normally associated with the negative. But what does restless mean?

I am not ashamed to declare that I get restless each time I hear or read about someone venturing into something new or is doing well in their life/business. Yet I am at the same time contented.

I can almost hear come of you saying I am cuckoo. Contented and Restless mentioned in the same breath? Aye!

I am contented with the effort and progress I have made in my life. God has given me what He deems is best for me as of now. However I am also restless (in the good sense) each time I read about people doing well. I am restless because I am encouraged. I am motivated. I am reminded that there is always room for growth and improvement. I am glad and thankful that I am still able to feel restless. It is evident that there is still fire in me.

So as no you can see, it is not a matter of comparison with others nor is it greed. It is simply wanting to challenge myself to be the best I can be. It matters not if I achieve it as long as I made the effort.

I pray that God will continue to grant me the desire and feeling of restlessness. He wants me to PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens). Everyday I enter into the mode of PUSH & ACTION.

Are you feeling restless too???
